Local events add community fun to traveling Smithsonian exhibit, ‘Key Ingredients’ San Manuel, Mammoth Programs Enhance Smithsonian Exhibit... ‘Food Is Art’ Baking and Quilting Workshop Series for Kids Smithsonian Exhibition in Oracle Needs Docents Key Ingredients in a Nutshell The Smithsonian exhibition Key Ingredients: America by Food provides an entertaining and informative look at our country’s many varied regional cooking and eating traditions, investigating how culture, ethnicity and landscape have shaped the way we raise, prepare and enjoy foods across the nation. This traveling exhibition is a collaboration between the Smithsonian’s ‘Museum on Main Street’ and state humanities councils. The Arizona Humanities Council, which is sponsoring the Arizona tour of Key Ingredients, has selected the Oracle Historical Society as one of six sites to host this amazing event. Key Ingredients is scheduled to visit the Oracle Historical Society’s Acadia Ranch Museum from March 19 through May 1, 2011. In preparation, the Society is preparing a spate of exciting public programs and activities, as well as a companion exibit on local food traditions and a cookbook of regional family recipes.
